Every city has a run down ‘ugly part’ to it. No matter how aesthetically pleasing and magically mind-blowing it is. Yes in Paris, Strasbourg, Rome, Bristol, Hamburg and so on there are run down areas. You can get so lost in the beauty of a city that you forget about the hidden problems in the infrastructure. You don’t question where the street vendors live or why you’ve been asked by ten different men if you would like to buy a rose. I think it’s important to go to the less appealing side of town to understand it as a whole, and it gives you a better understanding and a great insight into what the city is really like. It’s easy to forget that there are two different sides to a city: the touristic golden and glamorous face, and the poorer rugged face.
